In an earlier post I mentioned some issues with Mekki’s sprites, and I thought I’d open that up a bit in case someone happens to be interested.

Since Mekki is pretty much the only character with asymmetrical hair (so far) she has two hair sprites to match flipping the body sprites.

This creates some problems when moving to coloring since her braid tends to overlap or underlap parts on the body sprites.

Whatever would be under or “behind” the braid can be covered by simply not making it transparent, but that can’t be done with what’s in front/on the braid thanks to the layer order, so the colored sprites tend to have plenty of small extra layers to fix these issues.

Here’s a little bonus: Mekki with twin braids, because playing around with sprites is pretty fun.
